Co founder of one of Hong Kong’s first craft beer distributor and also behind some of our favorite hip restaurant and bars, we caught up with Shakib, one of our tenants at Warehouses on West.
Who is Shakib Pasha?
A food, music and design enthusiast with an entrepreneurial mindset. I’ve always wanted to operate my own businesses. The Hospitality industry gave me an opportunity to combine my interest in my work.
How did you come up with Bestbev?
Bestbev was born to fill a need, me and my partners noticed a boom in the craft beverage industry around the world; with passionate people trying to create good product. I was instantly drawn to the idea of bringing good drinking culture to Hong Kong on a trip to Australia where I found many craft beers and ciders readily available in bars and restaurants.
What do you think about tenanting a converted warehouse?
I think the pro’s of the space is the high ceilings, huge windows, and open floor plan. The modern layout fosters communication throughout the multi-company office. The main challenge is having privacy in the space.
What are your favorite areas in Hong Kong and why?
I Love Sai Ying Pun and Kennedy Town because of how historic the area is. With the city slowly evolving and adapting, it is nice to see some of the old school charm still retained.
Any exciting news or endeavors for you/Bestbev ?
I am currently working on a new restaurant project – but I can’t share yet! I’m also launching my own gin brand using Japanese botanicals.
